Thus you can get  antioxidants from both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee  beans sufficiently.

Bowel Stimulation:

The Coffee is a stimulant and also a laxative. Some alternative practitioners can even prescribe the coffee to stimulate the lower colon.

However, the coffee is also a diuretic and it can cause the constipation in some individuals. But normally every all the issues should be practiced in moderation and the health concerns should always be discussed with a medical professional. So, a moderate amount of coffee has its own benefit, an excessive amount can also cause some problems. Thus there should be some limit in coffee drinking and heavy coffee drinking can lead to irritability, anxiety, sleep deprivation, cardiovascular problems and higher cholesterol levels too.

Arabian coffee/ coffee arabica in any Form Means Exquisite Coffee

Arabian coffee is such a desired commodity that it makes up for about 80% of the coffee sales in the entire world. It is somewhat harder to grow than Robusta.

It is accepted that Arabia was most definitely the first country to commercialize coffee growing so hence its name coffee Arabica.There are in excess of 40 different types of plants in the coffee family but only two of them can be used for coffee the first being coffee Arabica and the secondly somewhat inferior species Robusta.

There are so many variables that go into making good coffee including Arabian coffee that one little alteration and it can change the quality and taste dramatically. This is one of the factors that makes coffee so intriguing and yet can make it a little frustrating when trying to find that personal perfection in your coffee tastes. There is little doubt though that you will find what you like within the Arabian coffee varieties.

Coffee Arabica demands very specific growing conditions and where those needs are met then that’s where the most superior coffee in the world is produced. It has to have high elevations to grow at its best, which is between 3,000 to 6,500. The consensus is the higher the altitude is the longer it takes for Arabian coffee plants to grow and mature. This is beneficial because it allows for a longer time for the characteristics it possesses to materialize and permeate.

Like every other coffee, coffee Arabica has variations too, basically three being Typica, Caturra and Bourbon has well. Although they all have the same origin, they each have subtle differences that make for different variances in the final cup. Most avid coffee lovers that really know their coffee would be able to identify these differences, but many others probably would not. There are small differences in the body and balance for example.

As we, mentioned Arabica coffee can be somewhat fragile to grow, but by having these sub types developed, it has also hardened them up somewhat without jeopardizing the quality and the taste.

What it comes down to Arabica coffee is still great in its worst form but when it prepared at its best its difficult to put into words just how superior it really is. One of the problems that can happen is if you have had the joy of getting a superior cup of coffee Arabica then go back to what you usually consume you are just not going to be happy with the brew that you have always enjoyed in the past.

Coffees From Around the World – India and the Pacific Rim

In our continuing series of world coffee articles we continue here with a discussion of the coffees from India and the Pacific Rim

Vietnamese Coffees

Vietnam is the second largest coffee producing country in the world today, behind Brazil. It is generally of poor quality with light acidity and mild body almost entirely of the Robusta variety. Consequently the coffee is mainly used in the production of instant and processed coffees. Most of the coffee is grown in the southern half of the country.

Indonesian Coffees

As the fourth largest coffee producer in the world, the islands of the Indonesia produce a wide range of coffees. Although the vast majority is robusta from small plantations, there are some very good arabicas produced too. Amongst the most notable are from the islands of Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi, Flores amd Timor. Sumatra is the name given to all single origin coffee produced on the island.

The most notorious of all Sumatran coffees is the Luwak. Rather uniquely the coffee cherry is collected after it has been eaten and passed thorough the digestive tract of a small island animal. Apparently this produces a lovely mellow coffee. It’s uniqueness earns its reputation as the worlds most expensive coffee.

Java coffees from the island of Java are grown on large farms mostly operated by the government, and are wet-processed using modern methods. These display the rich character of other Indonesia coffees, but are lighter in body.. Old Java, Old Government, or Old Brown are mature coffees from Java, created to mimic the flavour characteristics of the original Java coffee, which was aged in the holds of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century ships during their passage to Europe.

Indian Coffees

Despite being most famous for its teas, India is also the 6th largest producer of coffee on the planet, mainly from the southern regions of the country, where both Arabica and robustas are grown.
The best known are from the Mysore area and are known by that name. The best mysores have good body with sweetness.

Monsooned coffee is a process whereby the coffee is exposed to the monsoon winds in open warehouses. The idea is to recreate the natural ‘ageing’ that occurred during the long sea voyages to Europe. This gives the beans a particular earthy flavour and a smooth and rich taste with a spicy aroma.

Papua New Guinea

The best-known coffees from New Guinea are produced on large, modern estates that produce a clean, fragrant, and acidic coffee. Organically grown New Guinea coffees are produced on small farms and processed by the farmers using simple means. Both robusta and arabicas are produced.

Thai Coffees

Coffee is very important to the economy in Thailand. However it is intensely cultivated in the south of the country using fertilizers and pesticides and is it of low quality. Much of the coffee is used in to produce soluble products, roasted, ground, and canned coffee in their domestic market. A small amount of good quality arabica is produced in the north

Philippines

Disease destroyed most of the coffee plants in the Philippines in the late 1800′s. Today, however it has recovered somewhat and it produces generally low grade robustas for the soluble coffee market. A small amount of good quality Arabica are also produced

Hawaiian Coffee

Although not on the Pacific rim but in the Pacific itself Hawaii is a minor coffee producing island, the most famous of which is Kona coffee. It is a rich nutty and buttery coffee and often considered to one of the best coffees in the world.

Java coffee… it sounds a bit redundant, doesn’t it? Many people call coffee java, just like they may say they want a cup of joe. In reality, Java coffee refers to coffee grown on the island of Java, the largest island in Indonesia. Java coffee was so popular and was exported around the world, that many Americans just used the term ‘java’ as slang to mean coffee in general. And there is good reason for that.

The history of Java coffee is a long one. The Dutch brought coffee to Java in the 17th century, and it has been a major export for Indonesia ever since. They planted Arabica beans, but a coffee rust plague wiped many of the coffee plants out in the 1800s. The Dutch replaced them with Liberica beans, which while hardier, did not please the palate as much. Most of the beans grown in Java today are of the Robusta and Arabica variety.

Java coffee has a distinctive flavor that true coffee aficionados revere… it is known to be strong, spicy and sweet. The specific growing conditions on the island of Java create the flavor of the coffee beans grown there, and while they share similarities with coffee grown in other places, they have differences too. Coffee flourishes at an altitude between 3,000 and 6,000 feet in Java, with the majority of it being grown on a plateau around 4,500 feet. The coffee plants really thrive in the volcanic soil, which is rich in nutrients, and provides good drainage to the roots.

Even the area in Java influences the coffee… the most sought after Java coffee comes from the far eastern side of the island, near the Ijen volcano complex. There are four main coffee farms in this area, all started originally by the Dutch hundreds of years ago. These farms are now run by the Indonesian government, and they grow 85% of the coffee on Java.

Java coffee is wet processed, with the beans being pulped immediately after harvest, then washed. The beans are dried and rested for many weeks before being sorted and sent to the roasters. In fact, one variety of coffee, known as Old Java or Old Brown, is aged for two to three years. Java coffee beans are often added with others from different areas of the world to create unique blends. Java coffee beans produce a rich coffee with chocolate undertones, and when paired with Mocha, creates the ever-popular Mocha-Java blend.

Coffee has become part of Java’s culture as well as a primary agricultural product. Visitors are handed a cup of coffee in homes before they even ask for one. It is part of the fabric of everyday life in Java. So, if you have a cup of Java coffee, you may be inclined to spare a thought to the long history and culture that lies behind those beans that lent their flavor to that dark liquid you are enjoying. Java coffee is one of the world’s most famous brews, and will continue to be for a long time.
